Morten Lahrmann, Head of Finished Goods Manufacturing Science and Technology, FUJIFILM Diosynth Biotechnologies, Denmark is presenting: Outlook of a CDMO on smaller batches and increasing market requirements.
As batch sizes decrease and regulatory complexity increases, the critical mass of competencies and knowledge necessary for operating a competitive secondary packaging operation increases.
This begs the question; when is a CDMO the right solution for my packaging needs and how does a CDMO remain competitive in this market?
In recent years one of the major trends within pharmaceutical finished goods manufacturing has been a move towards smaller batch sizes and more orders. Driven by payers, increasingly efficacious products, and new therapeutic approaches, such as gene therapy, pharmaceutical manufacturers are faced with both unique challenges and opportunities for developing the business processes.
Additionally, regulatory focus on secondary packaging, such as requirements from EU’s Falsified Medicines Directive and FDA’s Drug Supply Chain Security Act for serialization and anti-tampering measures are increasing the complexity of operating a competitive secondary packaging production.
Hear how Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies’ reflections on these trends and how we concretely work towards addressing these organizationally and technologically to provide world-class assembly and packaging services to our partners within the pharmaceutical industry.
