Due to increased demand for process development at our Billingham site in the North East of England (UK), we have available for immediate start a vacancy for a Research/Senior Research Scientist. This opportunity is for a lab based Research Scientist to join the DownStream Processing department within the Process Development function. DownStream Processing (Process Development – PD)

Downstream Processing (DSP) involves the purification of the target protein species from a crude protein mix through to buffer exchange and protein concentration. As a CDMO we work in dedicated project teams assigned to specific Customer programmes. Developing the purification process, demonstrating the process in our large scale pilot facilities before transfer to and manufacture in our cGMP facilities. Project teams in DSP work on Customer programmes across all stages of the drug discovery journey from pre-clinical to launched product.
Research Scientist (DSP)
The successful candidate will be laboratory based and contribute to PD DSP Operations as a junior member of a Customer project team. Their role will be to execute high quality experimental work to support the development, evaluation and characterisation of processes for the production of novel therapeutic products (particularly proteins). They must have a strong scientific knowledge in the field of protein science, specifically downstream protein purification and must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills.
